Food & Fibre industry

The food & fibre allocation for THSHS is.....

Grains - Growing crops in a changing climate!

This should be an exciting topic for our students to look into.

Students will need to investigate and reflect on the challenges (and opportunities)our grain farmers face to produce food in an increasingly variable climate, with pressure on farming land from urban expansion and other land uses and potential biosecurity threats. Review the modern biotechnology tools and adaptation strategies that could help farmers adapt to the predicted impacts of climate change.

Stay tuned to see what our team discovers!

A new moo-tastic arrival at The Hills Sports High School

"On the 21st of May, my teacher, Miss Pinto, took me to one of the art store rooms. I presumed she was going to show me an awesome artwork but my mouth dropped when I saw what was actually there. Wrapped in bubble wrap, I saw the bull that we will be using for the archibull project! From my perspective, I could only see the head but I could imagine how awesome the rest of it will be."
- Aiden.

"When I first saw the bull, I was surprised as to how large it was and I am now very excited to work on the project."
- Alicia.

"When I first saw the cow, my first thought was an inappropriate word, my second thought was 'we can do a lot with this!' I actually have hope ours might turn out to be one of the best in the competition and I'm excited to meet our farmer that is coming out for us."
- Paige.

"My first reaction when I saw the bull was 'OH MY GOD, THAT IS SO BIG! BIGGER THAN I EXPECTED!'"
- Engelin

"When I first saw the bull, I was quite surprised, I didn't think it'd be as big as it is. I was expecting a bull that was as tall as my waist."
- Tanisha.
